CHIMO
The term “Chimo” is a word that originates from Canadian Indigenous and Inuit languages, and it carries the meaning of “welcome”
RYU
In Japanese the term “Ryu” carries the meaning of the way, the style, the school.
POLAR BEAR
The Canadian Polar Bear has been selected as a symbol for its renowned attributes of speed, endurance, strength, and intelligence.
RISING SUN
The representation of the rising sun is closely tied to the Japanese origin of Jiu-Jitsu, as it is a symbol that is deeply associated with Japan’s cultural and historical identity.
CREST
To complete our crest we therefore combine the Polar Bear against the rising sun, appropriately encircled by a laurel victory wreath.
The rising sun is reflective of Jiu-Jitsu’s Japanese origin.
